Kathy Ames oversees integration management and transition services for Southern Company’s divestitures and acquisitions activity. Ames began her career with Southern Company, Georgia Power’s parent company, as a customer service representative for Gulf Power in Niceville, Fla. She subsequently served in positions of increasing responsibility in training and customer service, including dispatch center supervisor, local manager in Niceville and customer service supervisor in Panama City, Fla.
In 2008, Kathy transferred to Georgia Power as the customer service manager in West Region, a 15-county area with 170,000 customers. She was later named customer service manager at the Customer Care Center, assistant to the senior vice president of Metro Atlanta Region and then assistant to the executive vice president of Customer Service and Operations. Prior to her current role, Ames was responsible for leading Georgia Power’s Customer Care Center, an organization of more than 500 employees in a 24 / 7 operation, in guiding the customer channels which include phone, online customer care, chat, social media, interactive voice response, email and text for business and residential customers to enhance customer value and ensure consistent customer experiences.
Ames earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of West Florida.
In the community, she is active in St. James Catholic Church and is an active member of Citizens of Georgia Power, the company’s volunteer organization that does charitable work in the community.
Kathy and her husband Gary reside in McDonough, Georgia and have one son, Nick.
