In Fall 2020, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia will open a Community Pharmacy!
The SVdP Georgia Community Pharmacy will service the entire state of Georgia, and will serve the residents of Georgia who cannot pay for their medications, and who qualify for our services.
Medical conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, COPD, and mental health are just a few of the health and wellness afflictions that the SVdP Community Pharmacy will focus on.
Our SVdP Georgia Community Pharmacy serves as a pharmacy of last resort for needy people who would otherwise go without their life-sustaining prescription medication. With the support of our community, we are improving the quality of life for the needy.
Once a patient is referred to the community pharmacy, our volunteer screeners will check to make sure they are eligible for our service. Eligibility is determined on the basis of income and expenses. The pharmacy will serve eligible families with an income no greater than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and uninsured individuals between the ages of 18 and 64 that live within the State of Georgia; as well as individuals with a valid prescription(s) for the medication needed.
Pharmacy Staffing and Volunteers
Pharmacy staff and Pharmacy students will perform client intakes and provide information to help the clients better understand their health and use of their medications. Our small staff is assisted by volunteer pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, as well as medical professionals who screen clients for eligibility, make referrals, stock shelves, and pick up donated drug samples. Our community pharmacy is a volunteer driven program, with generous members of the community, as well as, local medical and pharmaceutical communities providing critical support.
How can you help the SVdP Community Pharmacy, and the many patients served across the state of Georgia who are in desperate need of free prescription medications?
For every $1 donated, the Community Pharmacy is able to dispense $12 worth of medications.
Your Donations At Work
The pharmacy is currently accepting both financial and In-Kind donations for the pharmacy. Through the success of the community pharmacy, we hope to have a strong network of healthcare agencies, social service non-profits, churches and public agencies that work closely with our operation by referring needy patients to our program.
