Food Recovery and Distribution program
Since 2010, in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia has collected meat, produce, and non-perishable food items from local Kroger grocery stores. In 2015, the Food Recovery and Distribution Program (FRDP) collects food from 41 Kroger stores twice a week. Through the FRDP, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia distributes nearly 400,000 pounds of food annually. As 1 in 5 Georgians experience food insecurity every day, the food distributed through this program plays an essential role in creating healthy communities.
Client Choice Food Pantries
St. Vincent de Paul Georgia operates 38 Client Choice Food Pantries across North and Central Georgia, one in each of our Family Support Centers and the rest in the local Conferences. The Client Choice model allows families and individuals to select the food items that will be most useful to their families. This model helps maintain the dignity of each person and reduces waste from unwanted food items.
