SVdP Georgia has teamed up with the Gwinnett Housing Corporation (GHC) and its Pathway Home Program, a housing program designed to help homeless families in Gwinnett County find stable, affordable housing. GHC provides housing at below market rates and SVdP Georgia will provide on-going case management to these families for up to two years. “The goal here is to provide stable housing and give these families a chance to work on a path out homelessness. Each family has specific goals that they will be working on including educational advancement, savings, and improvement in their credit scores. We walk with them on this journey as a friend and mentor,” said Denise Fisher, a caseworker with SVdP. “In addition to their financial troubles, we often find that these families are socially isolated and don’t have a strong support network around them to help them on this journey. We try to be that social network.”
This week, GHC and the City of Norcross cut the ribbon on their newest property in Norcross. After acquiring the duplex, GHC invested over $100,000 in improvements to the property and building. “It is an honor to partner with the City of Norcross on this initiative. It is inspiring to see the city and Gwinnett create an environment where affordable housing providers such as GHC can serve our hardworking families. We look forward to more projects in the future,” remarked Lejla Prljaca, Executive Director of GHC.
